Met Eireann say temperatures will soar to a roasting 27C today and 28C tomorrow. The National forecaster has issued a status yellow temperature warning in place from 6am today until 9pm on Friday.
Issuing the alert, a forecaster said:
"Temperatures will hit 27 degrees Celsius in places today and are expected to exceed it on subsequent days, this week".
Met Éireann forecaster Harm Luijkx told Morning Ireland:
“We’re more than likely going to get a heatwave this week,.
Inland temperatures are expected to go far over 25 degrees, and could go as high as 30 degrees on Thursday and Friday.”
