SCAM ALERT: Beware of missed calls from THIS number

18th Oct 17 | News

Irish phone users are told to be wary of this latest scam!

According to Breaking News, there have been a number of reports of scam calls coming from the Liberia +231 prefix.

The calls are part of a 'Premium CallBack' scam.

Calls can be at any time of the day and rarely last more than two rings. The odd timing off the calls is to make phone users believe that the missed call could have been important - prompting them to call back. If someone calls back, they will hear:

"Hello, you have reached the operator. Please hold."

Any person who calls the number back will INSTANTLY be charged a premium rate for the phone call.

This scam can affect people who have credit phones, as well as phone bills.

If you receive a call of this nature, do not call the number back!
