Diesel confirms Fast and Furious 8
24th Apr 15 | Music & MoviesAfter much speculation, Vin Diesel has announced Fast and Furious 8 will indeed be made.
Vin Diesel has confirmed Fast and Furious 8 is in the works.
The 47-year-old actor's most recent film in the car-racing action franchise, Furious 7, has set new records following its box office debut on April 3.
And after much speculation Vin revealed to fans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday that another sequel has been officially greenlit.
"You have been so loyal all along. All of you made Furious 7 something of history. We are making Furious 8," he told the crowd at the event, with the audience exploding in uproarious applause.
Furious 7 has earned more than any other movie in the series, with international gross profits totalling $1.15 billion and domestic sales at just over $300 million.
This picture is the final feature film late actor Paul Walker stars in, as he died in November 2013 after being involved in a car accident.
And Vin claims the continuation of the Fast and Furious franchise is in honour of his dead castmate's memory.
"I swear to you and I swear to my brother upstairs, we are going to make the best movie," Vin noted, referring to Paul. "This is more than a movie. It's a movement."
Fast and Furious 8 will be released in theatres by Universal Pictures on April 14, 2017.
Furious 7 boasts an all-star lineup of actors including Vin, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell and Luke Evans.
