Women are using TOOTHPASTE to tell if they’re pregnant12th May 17 | Entertainment News
A bizarre trend is seeing women using toothpaste to discover if they're expecting!
The cheap, DIY method that saves you having to leave your bathroom is gaining serious popularity online and is just as strange as it sounds.
To conduct the test, women add a few drops of pee to toothpaste on a plate, if it changes colour and froths it’s positive.
If the woman is not pregnant, the toothpaste will remain unchanged.
However, before you start peeing on your toothpase, experts urge caution!
Spokesman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Professor Mark Kilby, told The Sun Online:
"When women become pregnant, their bodies begin to produce the hormone human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG).
HCG can be detected in a woman's urine by a pregnancy test.
There is no evidence that toothpaste can detect HCG in a woman's urine, and women should not rely on DIY methods to confirm if they are pregnant or not.
Even those who suggest the toothpaste test as a DIY option advise women should "still consider more traditional methods of confirming pregnancy".
