Ireland AM live from Laura Lynn

This morning we came live to you from LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, in Leopardstown, Co. Dublin where we were joined by a whole host of famous faces, volunteers and children.

LauraLynn would be nothing without those who provide the excellent care for the patients and their families. We were joined by two such people, Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Joann Balfe and Hugh O' Connor, who started here as a volunteer in 2015.

 

Paul Howard's keen sartorial eye has reigned over proceedings in Ireland for nearly 20 years now, between Rugby hero and South Dublin superstar Ross O'Carroll Kelly to his latest project 'Copper Face Jacks the Musical'- where Moulin Rouge meets Dublin!

Author Paul Howard joined Alan to tell us more along with Sarah Meagher, Head of Fundraising in Laura Lynn to tell us how vital your donations are to the children here.

 

So few of us will ever get to appear on the prestigious Abbey Theatre stage, but thanks to a brilliant collaboration between the Theatre, the National Gallery and Laura Lynn, 12 year old Jack Harmes got the chance to star in a full wheelchair-centred production. Jack joined us along with his mother Christine and Paul Timoney who was the Scriptwriter of the play. 

 

Bryan Murray and Una Crawford O'Brien are best known for their roles on Fair City where they play the on-screen couple of Bob Charles and Renee Phelan. They also have very close connections with LauraLynn. Una's grandnephew Maximus is a regular visitor here. Bryan and Una joined us this morning, and we're delighted that Maximus and his grandmother Deirdre can also join us. 

What an amazing season Leinster had, between winning the Pro 14 and lifting the European Cup, it couldn't have been better. The man at the very centre of it all, Leinster Captain Isa Nacewa joined us this morning.

And at the end of it all ALan revelaed how much was raised over the course of the morning!
