Irish Water also warned that daytime restrictions could be introduced at a later date if needed.

The move follows a hosepipe ban which was issued for the whole country earlier in the month and have been urging people to conserve water since the sunny period began.

The new restrictions are aimed at helping to refill reservoirs in order to avoid outages in the Autumn.

Nighttime water restrictions are already in place for some regions of country, all of which are currently displayed on an interactive map on the Irish Water website.
