B&Q issues URGENT product recall and orders customers to 'stop using it immediately'

B&Q has issued an urgent product recall after a potential fire risk was identified with REMOTE CONTROL ON/OFF SETS,  which have shown excessive heat build-up in the plug of some units.

According to the Consumer Protection Commission, B&Q have taken the decision to recall the products as in some circumstances, items in contact with the product could ignite.

According to The Irish Sun, in one instance a man, whose mum had bought a set, ‘witnessed flames flying out of the socket.’

If you have purchased these products please stop using it immediately. The products were on sale between September 2014 and November 2017.

A B&Q notice published on their website urged customers to stop using them immediately.

It read:

“If you have purchased these products please stop using it immediately.

If you have purchased this product please switch off at the wall and return it to your local store where a refund to the value of your purchase will be given.

*Monday to Friday 8.30am to 8.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm
