Met Éireann have released a SEVERE weather warning for THESE six counties

A severe weather warning has been put in place this weekend as tail-ends of Hurricane Lee and Maria are set to hit the country.

The warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare.

The alert reads:

“Southerly winds 55-65 km/hr, gusts 90 to 100 km/hr to affect Atlantic coastal fringes of the West and Northwest.”

However, the sun will make an appearance with temperatures reaching a comfortable 16C.

A forecaster said:

“Sunny in many areas this morning but some heavy showers occurring.

Sunny spells continuing this afternoon and evening but there will be widespread heavy showers also with some thundery downpours possible.

The showers may merge to longer spells of rain at times in the northwest of the country.

A fresh, blustery day with top temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh and gusty southwesterly winds which will be strongest along Atlantic coasts.”
