Metallics were the major fashion trend at the SAG Awards - 10 dazzling looks from the red carpet23rd Jan 18 | Beauty
These stars truly shone on the SAGs red carpet.
After the fashion blackout at the Golden Globes earlier this month, the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards were awash with colour and shimmer.
Pink was a popular choice on the red carpet but the most stunning dresses featured metallic textures and lots of sparkle.
From chain mail-like fabrics to delicate floral embellishments, this was power dressing at its best with a variety of strong silhouettes and a distinct lack of ‘naked dresses’ compared to previous years.
Here are our ten favourite shimmering looks from the SAG Awards ceremony…
1. Allison Janney
Top of the best-dressed list is Allison Janney, who wore an incredible silver sequinned gown by Yanina Couture to pick up the best supporting actress award for her role in I, Tonya.
2. Brie Larson
Brie Larson, who was presenting the award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture, chose a floral sequinned Gucci gown with a diamante embellished neckline and puffy capped sleeves.
3. Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o’s modernist Ralph and Russo couture gown combined a form-fitting bodice with a delicate feather overlay, creating a beautiful gunmetal shimmer.
4. Halle Berry
Also featuring a black overlay, Halle Berry’s Pamella Roland dress brought old Hollywood vibes to the red carpet. The plunging neckline was decked out in rose gold sequins.
5. Susan Sarandon
Susan Sarandon, who was nominated for her role in TV series Bette and Joan, accessorised her inky blue sequinned Alberta Ferretti gown with oversized sunglasses.
6. Marissa Tomei
Presenting the best actress in a TV series award to Nicole Kidman, Marisa Tomei wore an understated champagne coloured, long-sleeved dress accessorised with blush pink sandals and a metallic clutch.
7. Nicole Kidman
Accepting the award from Marisa, Nicole Kidman chose a chocolate Armani Prive number featuring all-over sequins and floral detailing on one shoulder. With scarlet lipstick and nails, her look had a slightly gothic vibe that really worked on the red carpet.
8. Olivia Munn
American actress Olivia Munn presented the best supporting actor award in a strapless column dress by Oscar de la Renta decorated with sequinned leaf details and a matching bodice.
9 and 10. Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf
Leading actress nominee Saoirse Ronan ticked both of the night’s major trend boxes, choosing a pale pink Louis Vuitton dress that was edged with sequinned tapework. She appeared on stage alongside Lady Bird co-star Laurie Metcalf who also chose a metallic look for the occasion. Her ombre sequin gown was by Sachin & Babi.
