The actress sent a series of tweets to Amazon's chief executive.
Rose McGowan – one of the first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment – tweeted on Thursday: “HW raped me”.
The 44-year-old actress made a series of claims in several tweets to Amazon chief executive and founder Jeff Bezos.
She wrote: “I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof.”
The actress also claimed the studio had won a “dirty Oscar” and added: “I love @amazon but there is rot in Hollywood.”
Weinstein’s spokeswoman Sallie Hofmeister said: “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein.”
Three woman had previously accused Weinstein of rape in an article in the New Yorker, claims he also denied.
Amazon said studio head Roy Price had been put on leave of absence “effective immediately” and said it was “reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Co.”.
McGowan shared a number of tweets on Thursday urging those who had been “hurt and silenced” to speak out, using the hashtag #ROSEARMY.
In an interview, given months before the Weinstein scandal erupted, McGowan said there would be a “day of reckoning coming” for Hollywood.
The actress, best known for the Scream films and TV series Charmed, said “Hollywood acts as a mafia” but added she was “not afraid” of reprisals.
On Thursday she revealed that her Twitter account had been suspended, telling her followers on Instagram: “Twitter has suspended me. There are powerful forces at work. Be my voice. #Rosearmy.”
She posted a notice, apparently from Twitter, with the words: “We have determined that this account violated the Twitter rules… Your account will be restored to full functionality in 12 hours”
A spokesman for Twitter said: “We don’t comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons.”
