Owen Wilson hit the racetrack at the British Grand Prix on Sunday (16Jul17) while promoting his new animated movie Cars 3.
The 48-year-old actor who plays lead character Lightning McQueen in the new movie, attended the race at the U.K.'s famous Silverstone circuit alongside the film's director Brian Fee and its producer Kevin Reher.
Owen visited eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton, who also stars in the movie, in his Mercedes pit garage and was also taken around the track in a special two-seater Formula 1 (F1) style car.
Lewis, 32, whose win put him top of F1's drivers' standings and on course to become world champion for a fourth time, plays Hamilton, a voice command assistant in English language versions of the new film.
Owen also visited Lewis's great rival Sebastian Vettel, who voices the character in German versions, in his Ferrari team garage.
The new movie is the third in the Disney-Pixar franchise following McQueen, a champion racecar. The latest movie sees McQueen challenged by a new technologically advanced car, Jackson Storm, played by Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer.
Life-size models of the two characters were also sent by Disney-Pixar bosses to the Grand Prix, complete with their own pit crew.
Lee Jury, co-head of the Walt Disney Studios U.K. said in a press release, "We are so thrilled to be partnering with F1, what better way to celebrate the release of Cars 3 than to welcome the legendary Lightning McQueen and his new arch rival, Jackson Storm, to Silverstone in this unprecedented activation at the Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix."
Lewis' win on Sunday was his fifth in the British Grand Prix, equalling the record held jointly by British driver Jim Clark and Frenchman Alain Prost.
