Alejandro Sanz to be honoured as Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year

Alejandro Sanz has been named the Latin Recording Academy's Person of the Year.

Gold Medals awarded to the Community of Madrid

The Corazon Partio hitmaker, who will be feted ahead of the 2017 Latin Grammys, is being honoured for his career and his philanthropic work with Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, Greenpeace and other organisations. according to Billboard.

"I'm happy and excited to be able to experience what is sure to be a thrilling evening in the company of friends and colleagues," Sanz says. "I have participated in some of these galas as a guest and it is a very special event within the celebrations surrounding the Latin Grammy Awards. I'm very grateful."

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation.

Previous honourees include Marc Anthony, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, and Julio Iglesias.

The Latin Grammy Awards will take place on 16 November (17) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
