Actor Justin Theroux is taking his New York neighbour to court in a nasty dispute over renovations the star is making to the apartment he shares with wife Jennifer Aniston.

Premiere of HBO's 'The Leftovers' Season 3 - Arrivals

The Leftovers star claims the man who lives below the couple's exclusive Greenwich Village pad has been complaining about the quality of the sound-proofing materials Theroux is using, and wants him to spend up to $30,000 (£23,000) more to upgrade.

Theroux is refusing to bow to the neighbour's demands, but according to his legal papers, the guy has retaliated by allegedly threatening to cut the water and electricity lines leading to the actor's roof deck, harassing his construction workers, and vowing to make the fall-out public, reports TMZ.com.

In the lawsuit, Theroux claims the disgruntled man told him any legal action would be "opening the door to a broad range of allegations that would become publicly available, and which would not please Justin or his wife or their respective publicists".

The actor is seeking at least $350,000 (£270,000) in addition to punitive damages.
