Annie Lennox and Texas to perform for Barack Obama in Scotland21st Apr 17 | Entertainment News
Annie Lennox and Texas are set to perform for former U.S. President Barack Obama when he visits Scotland for the first time in May (17).
The former Eurythmics singer and the Scottish band, fronted by Sharleen Spiteri, as well as comedian Kevin Bridges will provide the entertainment during a special charity dinner. Obama is expected to take questions from audience members and deliver a keynote address, marking one of his first since his presidency ended in January (17).
"I'm proud, privileged and over the moon to announce Oscar-winning musician Annie Lennox, brilliant stand-up comedian Kevin Bridges and world-class rock band Texas will all play at this amazing dinner," said Scottish businessman and organiser Sir Tom Hunter in a statement.
"What's even more amazing is that they are all doing this for the benefit of a charity of their choice... They are stand-out talents of their generation and will provide a remarkable conclusion to what we all hope will be an incredible evening, with all profits benefiting Scotland's children's charities."
All proceeds from the event, set up by his organisation The Hunter Foundation, will be shared between 300 Scottish children's charities as well as the Obama Foundation.
Obama will be accompanied by his wife Michelle at the event, which takes place on 26 May (17) in Edinburgh.
