Australian band Bliss n Eso struggled to think of anything else after 28-year-old actor Johann Ofner died on the set of their video.

27th ARIA Awards 2013

The group were not present at the Brooklyn Standard bar in Brisbane, Australia when actor Johann was left fatally injured after a prop gun loaded with blanks discharged during the filming of their Friends Like You video back in January (17).

They issued a statement following the accident saying that they were left "devastated" by 28-year-old Johann's death, but have now further opened up about the tragic incident in an interview with the Australian Associated Press.

"When I first got the phone call, it was like a red curtain just stained everything in my eyes looking out ... reality shifted," Jonathan Notley, aka MC Bliss, said.

The hip-hop group put their new album's release on hold after father-of-one Johann's death. And while they are now out promoting the record, titled Off The Grid, they admitted it was difficult to put the incident behind them.

"It was hard to think of anything else," Max MacKinnon, aka MC Eso, added. "Every five seconds of every minute it's there, it's in front of you and for us, not really knowing Johann to then seeing it on the news and then seeing this man, this wonderful man, this energetic and enthusiastic father, it's hard."

After Johann's death, Bliss n Eso's album took on a new meaning, with the group embracing the theme of "beauty can grow from darkness" in a cover shot of a white rose growing out of a skull.

"The front cover kind of happened almost organically and it just summed everything up in this beautiful way. It represents the music and also this period in our lives quite well," Jonathan said.
