Kristin Chenoweth in talks to star in West End production of Soap Dish20th Apr 17 | Entertainment News
Kristin Chenoweth is in talks to take on Sally Field's role in a musical adaptation of Soapdish in London's West End.
Chenoweth took over the role of Celeste Talbert in 2012 for a reading, which also featured Jane Krakowski, John Stamos, Cristin Milioti, and others. It was scored by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and directed by Rob Ashford.
On Tuesday (18Apr17), Chenoweth was asked about her possible involvement with the West End production on U.S. show Watch What Happens Live! and she revealed she may be hitting the stage for the show.
"The rumours are possibly true," she told host Andy Cohen. "I love Soapdish and I love (Sally Field). (Writer) Robert Harling came to me... and I remember thinking, 'Oh, he wants me to play the daughter and he goes, 'No I want you to play the mother (Celeste).' It's a great (part)."
Soapdish centred on the cast and crew of a fictional TV soap opera. The 1991 film also featured Kevin Kline, Robert Downey, Jr, Cathy Moriarty, Elisabeth Shue, and Whoopi Goldberg.
