Gucci Mane to document 'personal rebirth' in autobiography21st Mar 17 | Entertainment News
Gucci Mane is set to document his "unlikely path to stardom and personal rebirth" in his debut autobiography.
The rapper's tome, entitled The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, will drop in September (17) through Simon & Schuster.
The publishers have now released a statement explaining the contents of the memoir, which Gucci began writing while in prison, and claim it will detail "the captivating life of an artist who forged an unlikely path to stardom and personal rebirth".
"Every success was followed by setback. Too often, his erratic behaviour threatened to end it all. Incarceration, violence, rap beefs, drug addiction. But Gucci Mane has changed, and he's decided to tell his story," the statement on Simon & Schuster's website explains.
The hip hop star, real name Radric Davis, walked free from prison last May (16) after spending almost two years behind bars on weapons and drug charges.
Gucci also shared a snap of the front cover on his Instagram page, alongside the caption: "I'm an author now #TheAutobiographyOfGuccimane."
The 37-year-old previously revealed during an interview with rocker Marilyn Manson for CR Men's Book that being creative while behind bars helped him keep his mind clear.
"When I was locked up and they put me in the hole, this is what I was doing to keep my sanity," he told Manson. "This is how I was protecting myself."
