Adam Rickitt is excited to be joining Hollyoaks in April (17).
Former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt has swapped the cobbles for Chester as he joins Hollyoaks.
The 38-year-old actor starred in the ITV soap as Nick Tilsley from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2004, with his character replaced by Ben Price in 2009.
Thirteen years after leaving Weatherfield, Adam is moving to the fictional town of Hollyoaks on Channel 4, in which he will play Nancy Osborne's ex-boyfriend Kyle. He's set to make his debut next month (Apr17).
"I am really happy to be joining Hollyoaks. I've had a lot of friends work on the show throughout the years and they've all told me what an amazing place it is to work so it's really good to be a part of such a welcoming crowd," Adam said in a statement.
Kyle is set to meet his former flame, played by Jessica Fox, at a support meeting for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS), triggering old feelings for each other to resurface - despite Nancy being married to Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson). Adam adds that he is looking forward to the storylines set up for his alter ego and it was the exciting plots that won him over.
"I think they are amazing, taking the character on a real journey and something I am really enjoying playing a part in," he smiled. "Fingers crossed the audience like the surprises as they keep coming..."
As well as his acting career Adam has dabbled in music and politics over the years, though both didn't go as well as his TV ventures. His one and only album, 1999's Good Times, spawned hit I Breathe Again, but after failing to garner commercial success, Adam was dropped from his label.
Afterwards, in 2005, the actor was accepted as a prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party, a running which didn't progress very far but did win him the part of a guest political reporter for Daybreak back in 2010.
