Louis Tomlinson backtracks on going solo2nd Dec 16 | Entertainment News
Louis Tomlinson has been recording in the studio and is planning a solo record.
Louis Tomlinson is the final member of One Direction to announce he is embarking on a solo career.
The 24-year-old heartthrob had initially planned to work behind the scenes after the boyband went on hiatus at the end of last year (15), founding his own record label with the help of X Factor supremo Simon Cowell.
All the other four original members of One Direction have opted to record solo material, although only Zayn Malik, who quit the band last March (15), and Niall Horan have released records.
Now, according to a source at Simon's Syco record label Louis is set join his bandmates by making a solo record.
"Louis is a brilliant songwriter and had not initially planned his own solo career," the insider told British newspaper The Sun. "But he's been back in the studio and has been working on some really amazing music. He's played some to the powers that be at Syco, who are really excited."
Louis was one of the creative forces behind One Direction, co-writing a number of the group's hits including Steal My Girl, Perfect and History.
Bosses at Syco reportedly believe that the combination of Louis' creative talents and the support from One Direction's fans could set him up to be a superstar.
"They think he could be a real success as a solo artist, given his proven ability to write hit records and massive fanbase as part of 1D," the record company insider said.
All of the One Direction boys are now striking out on their own; Louis has become a father, Harry Styles is working on an acting career, and Niall Horan is combining music with running his own sports management agency.
Liam is rumoured to become the second One Direction member to become a father, with girlfriend Cheryl having been pictured showing off a baby bump.
