Harry Potter play set to open on Broadway in early 20182nd Dec 16 | Entertainment News
Hit London play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is getting a Broadway bump earlier than expected.
Producers of the two-part play, which has lit up London's West End, are close to completing a deal to open at the refurbished Lyric Theatre in early 2018.
Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling is thrilled about the Broadway news, stating: "I'm delighted we are one step closer in bringing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Broadway and very excited by the proposed plans."
Written by Jack Thorne from an original story by Rowling, the two-part play, which has a combined running time of just over five hours, follows the challenges of Harry Potter and his pals Hermione and Ron as their kids become teenagers - 19 years after the final Hogwarts battle, chronicled in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
