Felicity Jones: 'Hollywood's power women have paved the way for me to expect fair pay'29th Nov 16 | Entertainment News
Actress Felicity Jones has thanked her peers leading the equal wage debate in Hollywood, because now she can expect a good salary for blockbuster roles.
The Theory of Everything actress, who leads the new Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, was brought up by a hard-working feminist mum and a dad who believed in equal rights, and she's glad to be part of the new wave of power women in Hollywood that also includes the likes of Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.
The 33-year-old tells Glamour magazine, "I want to be paid fairly for the work that I'm doing. That's what every single woman around the world wants. We want to be paid on parity with a man in a similar position.
"I think it's important to talk about it... It's brave of those women to come forward and make a point about it. Now younger actresses will have a confidence in those discussions with their agents and be able to say, 'Can we make sure that I'm being paid the right amount for the work that I'm doing?'"
But though she is a fierce feminist with a strong work ethic, the actress admits she isn't prepared to let friends and family down for the sake of climbing the Hollywood ladder of success - and she knows it is important to have a good balance in her personal and professional life.
"I put every ounce of myself into my work, but also it's important that I don't miss every single wedding of my best friends," she tells the publication. "I couldn't do what I do without my friends and family."
