Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has topped the U.K. box office chart for a second weekend.

The magical caper, which stars Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, was by far Britain's most popular movie last weekend (25-27Nov16), earning $11.11 million (£8.89 million).

The bumper second weekend means the film has now taken an astonishing $37.69 million (£30.15 million) in ticket sales since its 18 November (16) release.

In second place was Allied, starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard as spies who fall in love amid the turmoil of the Second World War. It made $1.66 million (£1.33 million) in its opening weekend and was the chart's highest new entry.

In third place with $1.04 million (£834,000) was star-studded animation Trolls, featuring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake as part of its voice cast.

Fourth was Billy Bob Thornton's raucous festive sequel, Bad Santa 2, with acclaimed science-fiction thriller Arrival rounding out the top five.
