Rapper Yo Gotti is mourning the death of his manager following his death on Friday (25Nov16).
No details about Mel Carter's cause of death have been released, but in addition to overseeing Gotti's career, he also ran the star's CMG record label, and played a part in the early careers of artists like T.I., 2 Chainz, and Kanye West, who gave him a shout out on his 2004 track Last Call.
Yo Gotti took to social media to honour Carter's memory in a series of posts over the weekend (26-27Nov16), heaping praise on his efforts to turn their dreams into reality.
Alongside a photo of the pair on Instagram, he wrote, "You helped me! You Dedicated Ur (sic) Life To My Vision, To My DREAM, You Finally Got Me To Leave To (sic) Country & Go To UK, Dubai To See Da (sic) World, We Made Millions In Such A Short Time!"
2 Chainz also shared his sorrow online, posting, "Rest in peace OG (original gangster) Mel!!!! Good dude mane (sic) much love and respect to you and yours," while T.I. wrote, "RIP OG Mel!!! You were always well known & well respected in this thing (industry) of ours. You'll truly be missed. Love & Respect".
The Wu-Tang Clan shared on Twitter, "Our prayers go out to the family of our beloved brother and Wutang family member Mel Carter, Rest In Peace," and French Montana added, "It Really hurt waking up and hearing this sad news man we going miss you brother (sic). Life is really short, and it come at you fast (sic) Never take it for granted... sending love to my bro @yogottikom".
