Actor Shemar Moore is raising money to help his movie daughter Nadja Alaya cover her medical bills as the teen battles cancer.

43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

Hart of Dixie star Nadja portrays Shemar's child in new romantic drama The Bounce Back, and the Criminal Minds actor reveals the film's title has taken on a whole new meaning for the cast and crew as the now 15-year-old is fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

"The young lady, beautiful Nadja Alaya, when we shot the movie, she was 13," he explained on U.S. breakfast show Today. "(She is) so talented and just such a free, fun spirit, but just recently, just turned 15, a few months ago we found out she's been diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma..."

Shemar went on to reveal that while the situation is "sad", Nadja is keeping in "amazing" spirits, and she has a strong chance of making a full recovery.

"She's lost her hair through the chemo and radiation, so she's got a fight to fight," he continued, "but from what her mother says that her doctors are saying, she's in the 85 percentile of beating it."

Shemar has since teamed up with officials at the non-profit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to aid Nadja's family with her mounting medical bills via his own Baby Girl charity, which he initially started to help those battling multiple sclerosis, just like his mother Marilyn.

"Now The Bounce Back is bigger than a movie...," he added. "I've partnered with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, so we're raising money and awareness to help Nadja and (cover) her bills and her treatment."
