Actress Allison Janney is heading back to the Broadway stage for a revival of Six Degrees of Separation.
The Help star will appear opposite John Benjamin Hickey in John Guare's 1990 play, about a wealthy white couple whose lives are forever changed after being conned into believing a young black man is a friend of their son's and the offspring of Oscar winner Sidney Poitier.
Six Degrees of Separation, which is based on a true story, was previously adapted for the big screen in 1993, with Will Smith as the charming conman and Donald Sutherland and Stockard Channing as his victims.
The new Broadway production will be directed by Trip Cullman and it will open in April, 2017 for a limited 15-week run.
The theatre gig marks Janney's first on the Great White Way since she starred in the Broadway transfer of 9 to 5: The Musical in 2009, when she was nominated for her second Tony Award. She previously won critical acclaim for her role in Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge in 1997 and Noel Coward's Present Laughter in 1996.
