The Chainsmokers extend their run at the top of the U.S. charts18th Oct 16 | Entertainment News
The Chainsmokers have tied Outkast for the second-longest run at the top of the U.S. pop charts for an official duo.
The electronic dance music stars' Closer hit has scored a ninth week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, tying a feat Outkast scored over a decade ago with Hey Ya!
Only Los Del Rio have spent longer at the top of the countdown with their Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix) hit in 1996.
The statistics exclude pairings of solo singers who teamed up to record number ones - both Monica and Brandy and Lionel Richie and Diana Ross also spent 13 and nine weeks at number one, respectively with The Boy Is Mine and Endless Love.
Meanwhile, The Weeknd's Starboy holds at two on the new chart, and Twenty One Pilots' Heathens is steady at three.
DJ Snake's Let Me Love You moved up to four and Bruno Mars scores the new countdown's highest entry at five with 24K Magic, the singer's 13th Hot 100 top 10 hit.
