Freshen up your manicure16th Jun 17 | Beauty
Our expert shares some top tips for sprucing up your manicure.
There's no better time to try out a new manicure trend than the beginning of a new season.
While florescent and glitter nail polishes have emerged as popular looks on the catwalk over the past few years, one of the top new trends is a fresh take on the French manicure.
Natasha Suri, brand manager at Leighton Denny Expert Nails, explains that vivid hues are the key to lifting a classic manicure.
"Bright colours are being used as an alternative French white top and pairing bold colours with nudes to create a geometric nail art," she told Cover Media. "Or opt for a simple nail look using a choice of one bold colour across all nails."
However, Natasha noted that nude shades continue to be popular year-round, and Leighton Denny's Creme De La Crème, a sheer vanilla cream, remains a firm fan favourite.
"The polish looks great on short, natural nails as well as on those who like a longer nail, the almond shaped nail," she said.
Meanwhile, nail technician Ingrid Raphael is finding that two-tone nails with contrasting colour accents are popular. The metallic trend is not going anywhere fast either.
"For summer 2017 I am seeing a lot of metallic accents on nails. Chrome is also still a popular look - if not used as a full colour on nails it is used in nail art to create metallic lines/ French tips," the nail expert explained.
Tried and tested neutrals are always in fashion, with Ingrid finding that clients continue to ask for high gloss lacquers. In particular, OPI Nail Lacquer in Sweet Heart, a soft pink, is always topping her list of favourite polishes.
"Grey is also chic, and my stock of OPI's Taupe-less Beach always seems to have to be replenished!" added Ingrid.
