The couple seem set to break royal tradition when they wed next year
Incase you haven’t heard, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement earlier this week and yesterday they revealed the date they’ve chosen for their wedding.
The pair will tie the knot on Saturday May 26th at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle and with the British Bank Holiday falling on that weekend we reckon it was a good shout. Fairly logical choice, right?
Except it looks like Harry and Meghan will actually break royal tradition with their weekend wedding.
Traditionally royals have said I do on weekdays.
Harry’s brother William married Kate Middleton on a Thursday in April 2011, his gran (The Queen, of course) married Philip on a Thursday back in November 1947 and his mother and father, Diana and Charles married on a Wednesday in July 1981.
Their choice of venue is also slightly smaller than Westminster Abbey, where the majority of Royal weddings take place, but with a capacity of 800, we’re sure they’ll fit everyone in.
