Rapper Lil Kim, singer Teyana Taylor, and actress Meagan Good have been named as honourees at the upcoming Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) Awards.
The stars will be special guests at the sixth annual celebration in New York City on Wednesday (16Nov16), when Lil Kim will be recognised with the WEEN Icon Award, Taylor will receive the Mission Award, and Meagan will take home the Women's Empowerment Award.
Black-ish actress Yara Shahidi will also be presented with the TV & Film Empowerment Award, and
Ethiopia Habtemariam, the president of Motown Records, will be given the Music Maverick Award, reports AllHipHop.com.
"For nearly a decade, WEEN has served as a conduit for change, providing education, mentorship and empowerment for young women across the nation," says WEEN co-founder and CEO, Valeisha Butterfield Jones. "The Sixth Annual WEEN Awards will underscore our commitment to women and girls with a focus on social justice."
The news emerges as Lil Kim celebrates the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Hard Core. The rap legend marked the big day on Saturday (12Nov16), and revealed to fans on Twitter she was preparing a special surprise for fans.
She teased, "So today for the Hard Core anniversary, I filmed one of the most amazing television shows with one of the most amazing people. Stay tuned!!"
Meanwhile, Teyana paid tribute Kim on Instagram, four months after honouring the female MC in a performance at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors in July (16).
Reminiscing about the event, she shared, "I remember the very day I got the call that I would be honoring you queen, tho I'm no rapper I still get chills to this date knowing that you chose me so I had to hold it down one time tha queen!! Once again tho let me say It was such an honor to represent you.
