Laura (28) and John (34) live in Graiguenamanagh and have four children. Abi is 9, Cillian is 6, TJ is 2 and a half and baby Owen is 13 months old. They also have two dogs.
The McKeevers are a very young and busy family who have got into extremely bad habits – as well as a startling absence of fruit or vegetables in anyone’s diet – dad of four John drinks alcohol on a daily basis and smokes 60 cigarettes a day.
Both Laura and John’s mothers passed away over the last few years, something that has further increased their concern for their own health.
After being monitored, screened and assessed on Doctor in the House, the family find out the true state of their health.
Over the next eight weeks the family work hard to improve their lifestyle. John works hard to kick the alcohol and cigarettes and the whole family try to embrace the new eating and exercise plan – albeit with a few hiccups along the way. At the end of the 8 weeks, John and Laura are faced with their Temptation Test… they go out to a restaurant for lunch, but will they be able to avoid the tempting choices on the menu and stick to their diet plan, and will John stay off the booze?
At the end of the eight weeks the family are re-tested… What will the change in their lifestyle have made to their long-term health?
