OFFALY: OFFline Film Festival
Five days of watching great features & shorts & then cosying up to warms fires in a host of beautiful heritage venues in the picturesque town of Birr.
Offline Festival is now in its seventh year mix of international & Irish visitors to discuss and share their love for all things film.
Screening both feature films & shorts - with the latter only in competition. This competition sees in excess of 700 short films submitted every year to compete for the limited number of approx. 50 short film slots. Prizes on offer are: Best Irish, International, Documentary and Animation. Filmmakers who are selected for the festival are welcomed as guests of the festival.
Feature films are curated by the festival team; these films are usually accompanied by visiting Filmmakers for Q&A sessions.
Workshops on all aspects of the craft Offline also has strong youth elements with screenings and workshops taking place for both primary and secondary school students. screenings for Special Needs Students for the past two years.

On Saturday experience Henk Vosse Niza from Holland and friends with their own take on Irish ballads, seafaring songs and more

Jonno Kinsella. Born in Texas, his soul is 100% Irish, with songs and ballads, interpreted as only he can.
At 4.00pm on Sunday young musicians, singers and dancers showcase takes place with young musicians playing a mix of Irish traditional music, modern and contemporary styles.
There will be a magic show and balloon modelling
Steve Roche offers songs stories and tall tales, followed at 7.00pm with accordion music from John Buckley from Coolea, covering jigs, reels, and hornpipes etc along with John and Marie Corteen with ballads, country and folk.
