Elaine Crowley
Elaine Crowley joined TV3 in 2000 to train as a reporter and after a few months, at the age of 22, she presented her first news bulletin and hasn't looked back since. She has worked in a variety of roles in the newsroom, from reporter to assistant editor and producer to anchor and in 2004 took on her role as Ireland AM News Presenter, combining her producing and presenting skills. Being a bit of a night owl, the 4am starts took a bit of adjusting to, but she enjoys the challenge! Elaine also presents Ireland AM with Mark Cagney, Alan Hughes and Aidan Cooney from time to time.
Elaine fell into broadcasting by accident. She originally wanted to work in film and drama and completed the DIT Communications Degree in Aungier St. Dublin. Her sister Kathy was working at 103fm in Cork at the time, and Elaine conducted her work experience there – from that point on she was well and truly bitten by the broadcasting bug! She then went to work in 103fm radio straight after finishing her finals, firstly as an Advert and Promo producer, then as a Breakfast Show presenter, and finally to sister station 96fm to present the news bulletins.
She is originally from Newtwopothouse, Mallow Co Cork, where she grew up with her parents, five sisters and four brothers. Elaine is now living in Dublin, although visiting her nine siblings, and fifteen nieces and nephews takes up a lot of her spare time!
