TV3.IE CLEANS UP AT GOLDEN SPIDERS WINNING THE GRAND PRIX AND BEST MEDIA DIGTIAL WEBSITE AWARDS

TV3's website, www.tv3.ie, which was launched this autumn won the prestigious and coveted ‘Grand Prix' and the ‘Best Media Digital Website Award' at last night's Golden Spider Awards which took place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin.

The Grand Prix award was selected from the overall winners of the individual Golden Spider categories in 2008.  Judges were looking for outstanding levels of achievement in the areas of technology, innovation, functionality and interactivity coupled with a world class user experience.

The Best Digital Media Award was open to websites delivering Irish and international news in a varied and dynamic range of formats to the online audience.  Judges were looking for a ‘satisfying blend of analysis, opinion and reportage of breaking and ongoing news items alongside a clear determination to deliver this content in a wide and growing variety of avenues.'

www.tv3.ie is all about entertainment.  The site was designed with full catch-up of popular shows such as The X Factor and The Apprentice, showbiz and gossip, exclusive content, including teasers, sneak previews, extended interviews and web-only material from all popular programmes.  There is also up to the minute news, sport, weather and lifestyle features streamed and accessible whenever you want it.

On accepting the award TV3 Head of Online Philippe Brodeur said:  ""Twelve months ago we set about building a new media website for a new media age.  We challenged a lot of conventional thinking.  We took risks.   And we built a site that could grow and adapt to our changing times.  It's great to be recognised by our peers at this stage of the project - there is still a lot more to come."
