We can all breathe a big sigh of relief now that Brian McGonigle has been caught red handed and his true colours have finally been exposed. But in the aftermath of Brian’s arrest, anguish is deeply felt throughout the station in tomorrow night’s (Wednesday 20th May) episode of ‘Red Rock’ as everyone struggles to come to terms with how they all fell for Brian’s lies and deceit.
But all is not as straight forward as it seems. As Rachel recovers in hospital following her horrific ordeal, the Gardaí are anxious to speak to her about the sexual allegations but she is point blank refusing to make a statement and is still defending her former lover. If Rachel doesn’t admit that her relationship with Brian was sexual, then the Gardaí won’t get a conviction and Sharon’s work will have been for nothing.
Brian has been arrested and is being dealt with in another station but as his locker is being cleared out down at the station, Garda Sean Holden feebly tries to defend his boss, in an attempt to remain loyal. A stubborn Sean gives Sharon a frosty reception, even after the truth that she was right all along about Brian has come out. But it’s not long before he finally sucks it up and apologies to Sharon for his nasty behaviour towards her. As he offers Sharon an olive branch, friendships are mended and she finally feels at ease around her colleagues Sean, Adrijan and Paudge again.
Niamh tries to talk Rachel into making a statement. Despite Rachel’s protests that Brian loved her, Niamh is forced to be brutal; telling her sister that Brian left her to die in the caravan. Just when it seems like things can’t get any more complicated, Rachel is contacted by Brian once again. Will Rachel be sucked back into more of Brian’s lies and manipulation or will she see sense and bring justice to Brian once and for all?
‘Red Rock’ airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 8.30pm on TV3.

As Rachel recovers in hospital following her horrific ordeal, the Gardaí are anxious to speak to her about the sexual allegations.
Brian has been arrested and is being dealt with in another station. As the Sergeants locker is being cleared out down at the station, Garda Sean Holden feebly tries to defend his boss, loyal to the end. He’s not the only one defending Brian though; Rachel is refusing to make a statement and is still defending her former lover. If Rachel doesn’t admit that her relationship with Brian was sexual, then the Gardaí won’t be able to secure a conviction and Sharon’s work will have been in vain.
At long last, after months of giving her the cold shoulder, Sean finally apologises to Sharon for his nasty behaviour towards her, and tries to explain why he stood up for Brian. Sharon accepts the olive branch and friendships are mended at the station.
Niamh tries to talk Rachel into making a statement. Despite Rachel’s protests that Brian loved her Niamh is forced to be brutal, telling her sister that Brian left her to die in the caravan. Just when it seems like things can’t get any more complicated, Rachel is contacted by Brian once again.
Is there a new man in Katie Kiely’s life? New suitor Rory Walsh certainly hopes so. Can he win over Katie or is she still harbouring feelings for her Hennessy Romeo?
Episode 40
Thursday 21st May at 8:30pm TV3
The day of reckoning has arrived; Rachel Reid is giving her statement about recent events and allegations surrounding Sergeant Brian McGonigle. The schoolgirl is still defending Brian despite everything. Frustration turns to guilt when dad Liam realises that he should have been there for Rachel more after her Mum passed away. Brian fulfilled this role by way of grooming Rachel.
A worse-for-wear Brian shows up at the station demanding to see McKay. He is quickly ushered into McKay’s office so as not to bump into Rachel. Dunedin Garda station is promptly called to pick him up. With Detective Nikki as a witness, Brian still plays victim in front of both Nikki and McKay.
Rachel and Sharon have a heart to heart outside the station. As Rachel apologises to Sharon, she is also filled in on more of what happened that fateful day in the caravan. Realising Brian did indeed leave her to die, Rachel breaks down with emotion as Sharon cradles the grieving fragile teen.
There’s some rare good news for the Hennessys as it is revealed David will not be charged for his involvement in Darren’s Kiely’s murder. Patricia suggests that he go to Australia and visit his brother Simon, to put some space between him and Katie Kiely and also give Michael some space. But just as things begin to look up for the Hennessys, Katie unexpectedly shows up at the pub and drops a massive bombshell. She gives David some shocking news that is sure to change all of their lives forever.
Sharon accompanies Rachel back in to continue giving her statement, where she finally confirms her relationship with Sergeant Brian McGonigle was of a sexual nature. Brian is charged with defilement of a minor, giving some much needed relief to the Gardaí.
