TV3 GROUP RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Tuesday 14th October, 2014.
‘Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams tells ‘The Entertainment Buzz’ about her ‘Gold’ Irish role.
‘The Entertainment Buzz’ reporter Sarina Bellissimo caught up with ‘Gold’ actress Maisie Williams, who plays Princess Arya Stark in the hit series ‘Game of Thrones’.
Maisie opened up and told ‘The Entertainment Buzz’ that playing a modern-day teenager in ‘Gold’ was a welcome break from playing Arya in ‘Game of Thrones’.
‘The Entertainment Buzz’ airs Wednesdays at 7pm on 3e.
The Entertainment Buzz reporter Sarina Bellissimo caught up with Maisie Williams, best known for her role as Arya Stark in the hit series ‘Game of Thrones’. The actress sat down with Sarina to tell her all about her first major role in a feature film.
“I feel like Gold is such a mixture of the different characters and everyone plays a really big part in the end. During shooting was kind of really intense, but I was so grateful to have Dave (David Wilmot) with me! He was so, so great and really, really helpful on set and a lot of the scenes were so intense, that it was nice to have someone I could just laugh with”.
The black comedy ‘Gold’ was shot in Ireland and also stars James Nesbitt, David Wilmot and Kerry Condon. Maisie Williams plays Abbie, a teenager whose father returns from an extended absence and causes havoc for her, her mum and her step father.
The actress told The Entertainment Buzz that playing a modern-day teenager in ‘Gold’ was a very different experience from playing Arya in ‘Game of Thrones’.
“It’s a huge difference (between playing in Game of Thrones and Gold). I think having such a massive crew on Game of Thrones it’s not quite such as intimate, and trying to do an intense one-on-one scene with someone... there are 15 people in the room staring, you know? With Gold it was so nice to be able to work in the living-room space or in the kitchen space, and it really feels more realistic, I guess. And to be able to have more time to rehearse, and to make mistakes, and “You know, we’ll try it, it might night be great, but it doesn’t matter!” – it’s nice to have someone to say that to you, because you feel so much more creative, I guess”.
The ‘Gold’ actress confessed that she was not mad about the outfits she had to wear in the Irish movie.
“They (the costumes) weren’t appealing to me, but for this story they were absolutely brilliant and every day I was coming on the set in a weird brown and yellow outfit. I’ve still actually got my T-shirt and I wear it every now and then”.
Maisie, who was just 12 when she joined ‘Game of Thrones’, told Sarina that her character in the hit TV series will see a big change this year.
“I hear myself saying that there’s a big change for my character every single year, but this year it might be a good change as well, which is very exciting. That’s all I’m going to say”.
This week’s Entertainment Buzz also previews the stateside horror hit ‘Annabelle’, along with the adaptation of ‘The Maze Runner’. Joined by Entertainment.ie’s Mike Sheridan, presenter Gordon Hayden has tickets up for grabs to see Omid Djalili in concert this November.
To catch the full interview, tune in to ‘The Entertainment Buzz’ from 7pm tomorrow night (Wednesday, 15th October) on 3e.
