TV3 PRESS RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Tuesday 19th August 2014
TV3’s new Soap ‘Red Rock’ travels to
Belfast and Galway for concluding casting.
Leading Irish Casting Director Louise Kiely and team will travel to Belfast and Galway this weekend for the concluding open casting sessions for TV3’s brand new soap ‘Red Rock’.
The ‘Red Rock’ casting team is looking to represent the diversity of contemporary culture and ethnicities in Ireland as well as different age groups.
‘Red Rock’ will go into production this autumn and will be produced by Element Pictures and Company Pictures. The series creator and chief writer is Peter McKenna.
The casting team for TV3’s brand new soap ‘Red Rock’ will travel to Belfast and Galway this Saturday 23rd August in search of fresh new faces for the major new production which will begin filming this October. Those interested in auditioning are advised to register their name and details on www.redrock.ie to secure an audition time.
The casting process will be carried out by Louise Kiely and team. Louise Kiely has built her reputation as one of Ireland’s leading casting directors by casting a number of up-and-coming Irish actors in successful films, including Jack Reynor in the critically acclaimed ‘What Richard Did’, the BBC series ‘Quirke’ as well as the Irish casting on ‘Ripper Street’ and ‘The Sea’.
Hundreds of people turned up to the Dublin casting sessions for ‘Red Rock’ at The John Player Factory on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August with a strong turnout showing up in Limerick and Cork last weekend. Belfast auditions will be held this weekend in The MAC, Saint Anne’s Square, while Galway auditions will be held in The Harbour Hotel, New Dock Road.
Between the Dublin and regional casting days it is expected over 2,200 people in total will be seen. The casting team are hoping to represent the diversity of contemporary culture and ethnicities in Ireland as well as different age groups.
‘Red Rock’ will go into production this autumn and will be produced by Element Pictures and Company Pictures. The series creator and chief writer is Peter McKenna.
Hinting at what they’ll be looking for from the Belfast and Galway casting sessions, Louise Kiely said: “We would ask that people prepare a Film/TV monologue of a minute in length. We are creating a whole town, cast-wise, from the ground up. It’s an awesome challenge and a great opportunity for hopefuls to show us their look and skills to camera. Those we may not get around to seeing on the day don’t have to worry as they can submit self-tapes in the coming months. So far we’ve been delighted with the response. There’s a lot of undiscovered talent out there.”
The ‘Red Rock’ casting team is unlikely to cast anyone still attending secondary school outside the Dublin area as it is uneconomic and impractical for them to travel outside of school hours.
