PRESS RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Wednesday 26th February, 2014.
French fancy ‘The Lie’ following strong performance on TV3.
French broadcasters have shown an interest in commissioning TV3’s new game show ‘The Lie’ following a very successful start on TV3.
TV3 have already decided to re-commission ‘The Lie’, despite premiering on Irish screens just ten days ago.
‘The Lie’ continues its rapid success, continually growing viewers. To date, ‘The Lie’ has reached 696,600 viewers, averaging 200,900 viewers and a 13% share on TV3.
‘The Lie’ airs weekly on TV3 every Monday and Friday at 8pm.
TV3’s brand new big money game show The Lie, an original idea from 3Studios and STV Productions,is attracting interest from several French broadcasters following its successful launch on TV3 on February 17th. The parties are currently in talks with distribution company Red Arrow about acquiring the new format. The French fancy comes ahead of MIP, a major event in Cannes this April, where it’s planned that The Lie will be showcased to industry professionals worldwide.
The Lie, hosted by Jonathan McCrea, is on air just ten days yet TV3 has already re-commissioned a second series on the back of impressive ratings. To date, The Lie has reached a total of 696,600 viewers, averaging 200,900 and a 13% share on TV3. Filmed in the state-of-the-art TV3 Sony HD Studio in Ballymount, the series premiere averaged 178,200 viewers on the 17th February with the second episode growing to an impressive 241,100 viewers with a slot average of 32% just four days later on Friday 21st February. The third episode which aired on Monday 24th February averaged 184,800 viewers, increasing its audience numbers in that Monday night slot and proving that The Lie has certainly resonated with viewers.
Speaking about the re-commission of ‘The Lie’ and interest from French broadcasters, TV3’s Director of Content, Jeff Ford said: “We knew that ‘The Lie’ was going to be a big success but we underestimated how fast it would grow. Since the first episode aired just over a week ago, we had had an incredibly positive response from viewers. The figures speak for themselves so re-commissioning this excellent show for another series is the next natural step. I’m delighted also that The Lie is making waves in other territories. To have interest on the table so quickly into a new show is such an exciting prospect and bodes well for our future development as a broadcaster and international producer of content.”
The Lie airs weekly on TV3 every Monday and Friday at 8pm.
MIPtv takes place from 7th – 10th April in Cannes, France.
