TV3 GROUP RELEASE

IMMEDIATE: Wednesday 12th February, 2014.

George Clooney tells Xposé that he’s planning a trip to Ireland with pal Bono!

Xposé’s Glenda Gilson interviewed George Clooney at the UK premiere of The Monuments Men where he revealed that he is planning a trip to Ireland soon for a motorcycle tour with his pal and U2 frontman Bono.

Tune in to Xposé at 6pm on TV3 to catch the full interview.

Xposé’s Glenda Gilson met the gorgeous George Clooney at the UK premiere of The Monuments Men in Leicester Square. The handsome actor, who directed, acted in, produced and co-wrote the screenplay for the WWII movie, told Glenda that he’s planning a trip to the Emerald Isle this summer with none other than Bono! George said that although the U2 frontman is hoping to do a cycling tour, he has something else in mind.

“I’m actually planning to do a little trip to Ireland this summer so I’m going to try and get some motorcycles and get into Ireland.

“He [Bono] wants to do a bicycling tour but I think maybe we’ll just get him on a motorcycle.”

Glenda reminded George that Bono has previously slated the actor’s singing skills but had high praise for his drinking and scrapping abilities to which George replied:

“Sure, yeah, I am Irish so I can still scrap it up a little bit.”

George revealed that he is always eager to discover more about his roots so Glenda informed him that her mother’s Grandmother was Kathy Clooney from Waterford so the pair may in fact be related. He shook the TV3 presenter’s hand and said:

“Oh you mean a real Clooney, so we’re related?”

Despite the actor’s dashing good looks, George seemed slightly intimidated by French actor Jean Dujardin’s presence on the red carpet saying “Look at Jean Dujardin, Mr Good Looking over there”, to which Glenda quickly retorted “Says Mr Good Looking”.

A bashful George brushed off the comment and muttered that he didn’t like Jean Dujardin anymore.

Speaking about the The Monuments Men, which also stars Matt Damon, John Goodman and Cate Blanchett, Clooney said that they had fun filming and he enjoyed telling a story that he initially did not know about. Gushing about his co-stars, George said there was no downside to working with them.

“Well they’re all fun. First of all they’re really nice although I don’t want people to know that. They’re good friends and they’re wonderful actors so there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Speaking about interviewing George, Xposé’s Glenda Gilson said:

“George was even more handsome in the flesh and he was so generous with his time. It was absolutely freezing on the red carpet so I think he appreciated that we were all bearing the cold just to speak to him. I had to tell him that my Mom’s Grandmother was Kathy Clooney from Waterford, whose niece was George’s aunt Rosemary. When he said we were related, I blurted out ‘That’s a good thing!’ which I obviously didn’t mean because that might make my huge crush on him a little bit strange!”

Xposé airs weekdays at 6pm on TV3.
