Lisa Cannon, the glamorous presenter of TV3’s Xposé can usually be seen under the lights in the setting of the TV studio or on the glitzy red carpet interviewing A- List celebrities. However, as revealed on Ireland AM this morning, the Xposé host is now taking on a new challenge which will push the boundaries of her physical and mental state. In the space of just eight weeks, Lisa is aiming to go from novice to pro powerlifter!
Lisa is setting herself the ultimate challenge of competing in the Powerlifting Championships on 5th April, alongside women from all over the country, some of whom have been training for many months and even years.
Following an extremely strict diet and heavily regimented exercise plan provided by top personal trainers, including Welsh trainer Non Evans and Robert Lynch from Body Health and Fitness, Lisa aims to drastically transform her body and in the process, complete her ultimate challenge. Will Lisa succeed or fail in becoming one of Ireland’s next female powerlifters?
TV3 will document the highs and lows of her journey over the next eight weeks as she prepares to get down and dirty – and powerlift her way to success! Ireland AM will be following her progress weekly in the run up to the Powerlifting Championships on 5th April while TV3 will air a an hour long show of the entire journey on a date still to be confirmed in April.
Speaking about the exciting challenge that lies ahead, Lisa said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge because this is something that it both physical and mental. I’m pushing myself beyond boundaries I’ve never felt or even known before. I’ve swapped the pints for the protein so it’s really a massive endeavor to get this project off the ground. I’ve never lifted weights before; I’m a complete novice so going to the Championships on the 5th of April is going to be a really good, exciting challenge in my life.”
TV3’s new show documenting Lisa Cannon’s challenge to go from presenter to powerlifter will air on TV3 in April 2014.
