TV3's brand new murder mystery series Broadchurch reaches the halfway point tomorrow night (Wednesday 29th January) at 9pm. The fourth episode brings us deeper into the lives of the residents and closer to solving the ‘whodunit’ series. With fans on social media championing the critically acclaimed crime drama, Broadchurch promises to give viewers closure as they await the exposure of Danny’s killer. It is not just fans of the series praising the murder mystery; the media is also hailing Broadchurch as a recent example of a ‘smart drama’.

In the fourth episode, Beth is struggling to come to terms with the death of her son but she has to deal with another blow after discovering her husband’s affair with Becca Fisher who runs the local B&B.

Detective Inspector Alec Hardy (David Tennant), and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) investigate the wreckage of a boat that went up in flames and they begin to feel closer to solving the murder. City reporter Karen secures an exclusive interview with the Latimers by tricking them into believing it will help with the case.

Creepy psychic Steve Connolly (Will Mellor) continues to pursue Beth with his claims of contact from her dead son. While DI Hardy is quick to dispel any supernatural interference, skeletons begin to emerge from the closets of the Broadchurch residents.

Editor of the local newspaper Maggie questions Susan about her identity but the cleaning lady forcefully shuts down any suspicion. However Susan is hiding something as she confronts plumber Nigel revealing that they are “connected” and need to decide what to do.

As the residents of Broadchurch scramble to protect their hidden pasts, it is unclear whether they are relating to Danny’s murder. The most shocking discovery of all comes when junior reporter Olly uncovers a very dark secret about Jack who runs the local news store where Danny used to deliver papers.
