TV3 GROUP NEWS RELEASE IMMEDIATE: Monday 6th April 2009

MANCHESTER CITY DEFENDER DANNY MILLS JOINS TV3

TV3 is pleased to announce the signing of Manchester City defender, Danny Mills as a studio analyst for Thursday’s UEFA Cup Quarter Final - First Leg between Hamburg and Manchester City. After the big money signings of Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Wayne Bridge and Shay Given, manager Mark Hughes will be keen to pay back the investment by the club’s mega rich owners with a trophy.

A long-standing knee injury has forced Danny out of the first team picture at City, but few could be better placed to assess City’s chances of winning the UEFA Cup this season. Danny has been a regular contributor to BBC TV & Radio and his columns have featured in both The Guardian and the Daily Mail. Danny will be joined in studio by former Ireland international Tony Cascarino.

Mark Lawrenson is re-acquainted with TV3 after a short break. ‘Lawro’ will be at the NordBank Arena in Hamburg to provide commentary alongside Trevor Welch.

Another new face is presenter Tommy Martin, who joins the live production team after spells presenting Sports Tonight and News at 5.30.

TV3 will also broadcast the first pick of the UEFA Cup Semi--Final 2nd Leg exclusively live on May 7 and the UEFA Cup Final in Istanbul will also be live on TV3 on May 20.

TV3 Sports Editor Kieran Holden said “We expect Danny to be as uncompromising in the studio as he is on the field of play. He is an intelligent reader of the game and I feel our viewers will agree that when it comes to expert analysis, Danny really knows what he is talking about. We are delighted to have Tony Cascarino and Mark Lawrenson back with us for the final phase of the UEFA Cup. Next season will be a massive year of live European Soccer on TV3 as the UEFA Champions League returns on Tuesday nights and TV3 will also be the exclusive terrestrial home of the UEFA Europa League for the next three years”.

ENDS.
