Top tips on how to embrace the grey hair trend.Thought going grey was a hair nightmare? Think again. A host of A-listers have been spotted sporting gorgeous grey locks, while the catwalks are teaming with grey-haired beauties. If you're thinking about trying out the trend our expert hairdressers shows you how to get the look...Finding your first grey hair can strike the fear of god into most women but it now seems there is a whole movement of celebrities and models actively choosing to dye their hair what was once considered a shade synonymous with the octogenarian set - meaning going grey gracefully is becoming a little easier to swallow. When Theyskens' Theory sent models down his Spring/Summer 13 catwalk with grey waves, it was a celebration of ageless style and a whole host of celebrities have since been snapped on the red carpet rocking all manner of silver shades. So why do it? "Going grey is about being individual, not about following a trend," says celebrity hairdresser and owner of the Electric Hairdressing brand Mark Woolley. "You're creating a character and you want to stand out. It's not actually a flattering colour for your skin tone, so you have to be committed to making a statement."So how do you make grey work for you? "Grey or white hair tends to look best with pink, olive, and dark complexions," explains Mark. "If you're sallow or very pale, you'll probably look washed-out and should consider lowlights, where the grey tone is created with a highlighting technique because grey has so many tones in it, from extreme white to silver."Still apprehensive about going granite? Mark suggests going for a subtle grey streak instead - it's only temporary after all - or start with an icy blonde dye and work from there. If the solution is still a little too permanent for you, hairdresser Kevin Murphy has the solution with his COLOR.BUG in white - it's a pigmented powder which offers saturated colour for onetime wear. It's swiped onto hair for quick colour which washes out with one shampoo. Or throw on one of Annabelle's dip-dyed wigs for a night out. Inspired by this season's catwalk looks it's the safest way to go grey -- and possibly the most fun.
