    Sofía Vergara learns to shape up

    Sofía Vergara has had to change her "mentality" when it comes to being healthy.

    Sofía Vergara has had to come to terms with the fact she's not "genetically blessed".

    The Modern Family star is known for her glamorous style and gorgeous curves.

    However, the 40-year-old says she needs to put more effort into looking good these days.

    "I used to think I was genetically blessed but now, at this age, I realise that I have to eat healthy and work out more - I never used to do that," she confessed to the latest edition of British magazine OK!

    "I had to change my mentality a bit and learn moderation."

    Sofía originally hails from Colombia, just like the equally gorgeous singer Shakira.

    However, she feels her curvaceous figure isn't always appreciated in other countries.

    "I think the concept of beauty in Latin America is different to that in Anglo countries," she explained.

    "When I first started acting here [America], my publicist told me, 'You need to lose some weight because the other girls look better in the pictures because they're skinnier.' I said, 'Yeah, they look better in pictures, but I look better naked. What's your problem?' I've always enjoyed my curves."
