  • Manolo Blahnik: Heels heighten sex appeal

Manolo Blahnik says wearing his shoes can make women much more attractive to the opposite sex.

Manolo Blahnik says his heels give women "tenfold" the power of seduction.

The footwear designer is so passionate about his job he doesn't really see it as work. He wants women the world over to learn how donning a pair of beautifully-crafted shoes can transform the way they feel.

"Wear heels to feel beautiful... It is the only valuable reason in my opinion. And I can guarantee you that it will radically change your way of walking, it's going to sway it. Your power of seduction will be tenfold," he told Grazia France.

The star has always loved shoes, even when he was a little boy. He thinks early memories of the footwear choices his female relatives made encouraged him to pursue his passion.

"[What fascinates me with heels is] the noise. I'm like Pedro Almodóvar [director of] the movie High Heels. When the girl falls asleep hearing her mother walking in the apartment, it reassures her. I think my fascination comes from the same place. When I was a child, it reassured me to hear people walking in the house," he said.

Manolo realises not all women find it easy to walk in high shoes. He advises practicing by walking on your toes, adding it doesn't matter if you don't master the art straight away.

"What I love most of all is the risk that is taken [when women wear high heels]," he gasped. "When the walk is not perfect, when it slips a bit, it's really charming... step is a surprise."
