  • Gaga casual for H&M

Lady Gaga looked wonderfully colourful as she cut the ribbon at New York's H&M flagship store yesterday.

Lady Gaga toned down her quirky style to open New York's H&M flagship store yesterday.

The American pop star opted for a casual multi-coloured jumpsuit and wavy blonde wig with a fringe as she arrived at the shop in Times Square.

Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - also kept her make-up minimal, creating a fresh-faced look with a spot of red lipstick.

However, staying true to her flamboyant taste, the 27-year-old singer went all out with her footwear in sky-high black heels.

Surrounded by a group of security as screaming fans looked on, Gaga cut the red ribbon to the entrance of the store using a pair of giant scissors.

She recently teamed up with H&M for the release of her new album ARTPOP. Her record is stocked in 175 branches of US stores following its release earlier this week.

While promoting the album Gaga has opened up about her past more than ever. In one interview with Stern's SiriusXM Radio show, the Do What U Want singer revealed she was once addicted to keeping her facial features looking youthful.

"I've never had any work-work done, but I went through a phase when I was smoking pot when I was really obsessed with getting facial injections. I was going to this strip mall in Chicago in the back," she recalled.

"Everybody was like, 'You are a nut job.' I'm telling you, I wasn't exactly in the best frame of mind, and I would smoke a bunch of joints and have some drinks and I would be like, 'Oh, let's go see my girl' and we would drive to this strip mall and I would get shot up with a bunch of whatever, Juvéderm, and then leave. Now all the stuff is gone. Before I shot the Applause video, [a photographer friend] was like, 'Gaga, I love you but if you don't stop injecting sh*t in your face I'm going to just kill you.'"
