Emeli Sande likes to make her fans cry with her music.
The 'Next to Me' singer - who will close the BRIT Awards in London tonight (20.02.13) - loves to know her heartfelt songs have had a reaction with her audience, even if it means they feel sad. She told the BBC: ''I like making my fans cry. It sounds mean, but when people cry to your music, it feels good because you know it connected. Something about the lyric or the melody has really got in there. If anyone ever tells me they've cried at a show, then I'm quite moved and touched by that.'' The singer - who is up for four awards in three categories including Best Female and British Single at the event - is planning to take a six month break from music before writing her second album. However, before she does, she's looking forward to sharing a piano with one of her heroes, Elton John. She said: ''Straight after the BRITs, I'm playing at Elton John's Oscar party. He's been such a big supporter ever since the album came out. It's amazing to go out there - and I'll probably be singing with him as well. I have no idea what song. If I had to choose, 'Rocket Man' would be cool. I can't wait.'' The BRIT Awards will be shown live on Britain's ITV channel from 8pm tonight, and will also feature performances by Muse, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams and One Direction.
