Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam are on the shortlist to play Tarzan.
The 'Man of Steel' actor and 'Green Street' star have caught the interest of director David Yates - whose previous work includes the final four installments of 'Harry Potter' - to portray the jungle man in his upcoming film after it was given the go ahead by Warner Bros. According to Vulture, joining them on the shortlist are True Blood's Alex Skarsgard and 'The Dark Knight Rises' villain Tom Hardy, though it is not known whether Tom would be interested in taking on the iconic role. Jerry Weintraub is set to produce the feature after developing it for several years and though David has taken on the project, reports say Craig Brewer was initially tapped to do the job. This big screen adaptation will be the second of Edgar Rice Burrough's classic novel, with the first being the 1999 Disney animation. In the meantime Henry can be seen playing Superman in next year's movie 'Man of Steel' and Charlie is starring in sci-fi flick 'Pacific Rim' as well as 'Deadfall'. Alex is to appear in two upcoming films entitled 'The East' and 'Hidden'.
