    Taylor Swift: People need music when in love

    Taylor Swift thinks people need music when they're in love.

    The 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' hitmaker - who releases her new album 'Red' today (22.10.12) - says she writes about her hardships in love because she, like her fans, turns to music to reach an ''exact nerve'' to vocalise her feelings.

    She said: ''I think that when people need music the most is when they are falling in love intensely or they're falling out of love or losing love or being let down or frustrated or hurt.

    ''And you don't know how to say exactly how you feel and if there's a song that can hit on it and touch that exact nerve that you're feeling. It's why people are so obsessed with music.''

    The 22-year-old beauty also admitted to being an observer, drawing ideas from everyday life to fuel her music.

    She explained to MTV News: ''I really tend to draw inspiration from my life and from the characters in my life. And it's just kind of for me something I've always loved doing, watching life play out and kind of making a song out of that.''

    Taylor sings fans a story through 'Red', from breaking up with a lover to the moment when you have to 'Begin Again', adding: ''It's why I write most of my songs about emotions and feelings and relationship issues because that's what confuses us most in life. So it's nice to feel that there's more than just you feeling that way.''
