    Nadine Coyle caused Girls Aloud break

    Nadine Coyle's desire to go solo sparked Girls Aloud's extended break, according to Cheryl Cole.

    The 'Under The Sun' singer - who is reuniting with her bandmates to celebrate their 10th year in pop music - claims Nadine's desire to skip the 2009 Brit Awards despite being nominated in the Best British Group category was another reason for their hiatus.

    In her new autobiography 'Cheryl: My Story', the 29-year-old star wrote:

    ''I think we all expected her to come up with some sort of excuse, but she just admitted 'It's not really my thing'.

    ''I can remember a sort of stunned silence, like we'd all been slapped in the face. But I was so cut up about my marriage this didn't really make the impact t it probably should have.''

    The former 'X Factor' judge also revealed the band began to reconsider their future when Nadine - whose solo career has since flopped - brought her own personal manager on the band's tour bus and was actively planning her assault on the US charts.

    She wrote: ''It was no secret Nadine was trying to launch a solo career in America. I felt we were lucky she was prepared to split herself in two. This was different though.

    ''Having her manager actually on tour with us was crossing the line, and that's when I knew that it was finally time for us to take a break.''

    The group - whose upcoming reunion is shrouded in secrecy - recently recorded a new single that is expected to be released on October 19.

    Nadine recently insisted the upcoming reunion is not a final fling for them.

    She posted on twitter: ''Wow wow wow! Farewells? Tears? What? No way this is a happy day! Xx I never ever ever want @GirlsAloud to break up! Ever! Xxx ever! (sic)''
