    Ellie Goulding's tribal album

    Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' is ''tribal''.

    The 'Starry Eyed' hitmaker has moved away from the electronic pp of her debut album, to embrace dance music on her second record.

    She said: ''I've got more influences and different influences. I think it's a different sound. It is kind of a bit more tribal, a bit more anthemic.''

    The 25-year-old singer can understand comparisons between Adele's album '21', 'Halcyon' as they are both break albums, but says she never initially intended it that way.

    She added: ''In fact, if anything, I thought, 'this album I'm not going to talk about boys or talk about love, I'm going to talk about a different kind of love, I'm going to talk about other stuff.' But as I started writing it, it was at a time in my life where that was happening and it ended up being an album about losing someone and breaking up with someone. But it was not my intent.''

    Ellie also hopes the video to her latest single, 'Anything Could Happen' - in which she and her 'love interest' are in a car accident but magically come back to life - will inspire a certain type of reaction from her fans.

    She added to MTV News: ''I hope it will provoke positivity as opposed to making people really sad.

    ''It's a song of realisation, because at the end I say, 'I'm the girl that can give you everything you need, but actually I don't need you necessarily.' It's just about someone finding freedom in some capacity.''
